Man Charged by Scott, Carnegie Police for Similar Crimes

Scott Township police news, July 16 to July 21.

A Scott Township man was charged by both Scott Township and Carnegie police departments after police said an investigation showed his involvement in similar crimes in both communities.

Thomas Zekler, 29, was charged with burglary and criminal mischief for allegedly attempting to break into a garage in the 500 block of Spikenard Street on July 19 around 6:30 a.m.

According to the report from Scott Township police, an investigation also showed Zekler was involved in a similar theft incident in Carnegie, and was charged with offenses by Carnegie Police.

  • Amanda Mayfield, 25, was charged with retail theft after witnessed told police she was seen shoplifting clothing at Walmart on July 16. An accomplice was also stopped and will be charged privately by Walmart personnel.
  • A basketball hoop unit was reported stolen from the front of a residence on Spring Valley Road on July 19.
