According to the Animal Rescue League, one-year-old Ford is a fun-loving and energetic Shepherd mix. He is very sweet and possesses the intelligence that German Shepherds are known for. However, the Rescue League recommends that he attend obedience classes to curb some of his youthful enthusiasm. Because of his high energy level, it is also recommended that Ford not be adopted into a home with small children. Obedience training is an excellent way to bond with your dog, the Rescue League says, and also helps with socialization of your dog with other dogs, and with other people. Say hello to Fran! This sweet dog is a 4-year-old miniature Poodle mix who was surrendered by her owner after they could no longer take care of her. She's a little overwhelmed by the shelter. But, she’s been very receptive to being held and stroked for her pictures. Small dogs and poodles in general tend to get adopted very quickly, so Fran might not be spending too many days at the shelter. The Pirates are winning and have a team slogan of "Zoltan"—make this guy a winner, too!
This is Zoltan. Zoltan was surrendered to the Animal Rescue League because his owner had landlord issues. Zoltan is a friendly guy who smiles a lot. Zoltan passed his temperament test with flying colors, and we think that he would be good for first time dog owners. It is recommended that he attend obedience classes to teach him how not to jump up on people and various other things. Obedience training is an excellent way to bond with your dog, and also helps with socialization of your dog with other dogs, and with other people. ARL offers training classes at the shelter. Tammy is a playful 3-year-old pittie mix who came in to the Animal Rescue League as a stray. With her sweet face and friendly personality, she quickly made a lot of friends among the volunteers and staff. Tammy rides well in the car, loves to play, and gives lots of kisses. She responds to 'sit' and walks decently on leash. She gets along well with other dogs and just loves people. Tammy recently had the honor of appearing on the Pittsburgh Today Live show on KDKA-TV | CBS Pittsburgh during a broadcast about an ARL fundraiser event. She was totally at ease in front of the camera, happily chewing on her stuffed toy. She also made a special appearance at the recent Mutters Day Canine Fashion show held at the Priory Hotel. Maggie is a two-month-old Alaskan Husky/Mix and was part of a litter of seven puppies. She is curious, adventuresome and ready for fun. She was fostered with her one brother, Champ. She loves the outside and the cold or rain does not bother her. Maggie is gentle and loves to sit on your lap, and she will play tug a war with anything—her rope toy is by far her favorite. She is very gentle, sweet and with training, she will make a great companion. She will be easy to train as she is attentive and will do well with a wide range of situations, though with her curiosity she will need things to interest her—people, toys, etc. She is learning the "sit" and "shake" commands.
