Grocery Chains Offering 20-Cent Gas Perks Through Memorial Day Weekend

Giant Eagle and Shop 'n Save are participating until May 29.

Giant Eagle and Shop 'n Save customers are offering a gasoline promotion through Wednesday, May 29. Customers who spend $50 using a Giant Eagle Advantage Card at Pittsburgh-area Giant Eagle stores, including the Giant Eagle on Washington Pike and the Giant Eagle on Cochran Rd., will receive double fuelperks! at GetGo fuel and convenience store locations. In a similar promotion, Shop 'n Save shoppers will receive 20 cents off per gallon of gas for every $50 they spend on groceries. The promotions come just in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, when millions are expected to travel the nation’s highways. Giant Eagle Ending Foodperks Program

Giant Eagle is ending its popular Foodperks! program. Did you like the grocery store's Foodperks! program and how much did you save by filling up at GetGo gas stations?

Giant Eagle is ending its popular Foodperks! program, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The last day to use any Foodperks! points on your Advantage card will be May 31. However, the last day to earn those discount points by filling up at GetGo gas stations is on Feb. 13. The supermarket/gas station chain's Fuelperks! program will continue, the P-G reports. In fact, starting on Thursday, it will be supplemented by a 3-cent discount on gasoline for Advantage Card holders on the occasions when they don't use Fuelperks! Giant Eagle CEO Laura Karet said that the Foodperks! program had become "a little too complex." The Giant Eagle grocery stores located in this area are in the Chartiers Valley Shopping Center and Virginia Manor Shopping…
