Bishop Canevin has hired Darren Schoppe, a 1991 graduate at the Catholic school, as its new varsity football coach.
Bishop Canevin High School has hired a new varsity football coach. Darren Schoppe is a 1991 graduate and was an assistant coach at Bishop Canevin from 1993 to 2005. He is also a former defensive coordinator at South Fayette and also was an assistant coach for Peters Township. “It was important for us to find a coach who would be passionate about Crusader football and about developing our young men as individuals, student, and athletes and I feel that Coach Schoppe is that person,” Principal Karen Walker said in a press release. “We all look forward to continued great success for our team both on and off the field under his leadership." Niel Loebig, an assistant offensive coach at Duquesne University, was hired Tuesday night as Chartiers Valley’s new football coach.
Chartiers Valley has hired a new varsity football coach. Niel Loebig, an assistant offensive coach at Duquesne University, was hired Tuesday night by the Chartiers Valley School Board. Loebig, who graduated from South Fayette High School in 2000, spent last year at Duquesne as the passing game coordinator and receivers coach. Loebig also played quarterback at Duquesne before graduating with an education degree from the school in 2005. “We believe Coach Loebig’s years of experience combined with his skills and qualifications will make him an asset to the Chartiers Valley football program,” Superintendent Brian White Jr. said in a statement. Multiple news agencies report that the longtime Penn State football coach died Sunday.
Venerable former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno died earlier today, multiple news agencies are reporting. "It is with great sadness that we announce that Joe Paterno passed away earlier today. His loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled," Paterno's family said in a statement, ABC News reported.
