Greentree Shopping Center Stores Damaged by Ruptured Waterline

A bookstore and two other shops inside the Greentree Shopping Center were flooded early Thursday morning when a pipe beneath the sidewalk ruptured.

A bookstore and two other shops located inside the Greentree Shopping Center were flooded early Thursday morning when a pipe beneath the sidewalk ruptured, according to news reports. The hardest hit store in the Scott Township shopping center was Bradley’s Book Outlet, according to KDKA-TV. Books and other merchandise stacked on the floor were destroyed, along with the carpet, according to the television station. The Rite Aid pharmacy and Sherwin Williams paint store were also damaged when the 6-inch waterline, which apparently feeds the sprinkler system, broke around 5 a.m. Thursday, KDKA reported. Pipeline Blowout Damages Homes

Watch this unbelievable video of a ruptured water pipeline on Carothers Avenue in Scott Township that flooded two homes Tuesday night.

A ruptured water pipeline on Carothers Avenue in Scott Township broke windows and flooded two homes Tuesday night. The major pipeline between Magazine Street and the Glendale Bridge happened around 5:15 p.m. and caused major traffic delays and loss of water service to nearby homes. Rocks and gravel from the rupture went through one window and the water sprayed toward two homes. It eventually flooded the lower levels of the homes with about four inches of water. A video posted onto Chartiers Valley Patch by a reader showed the water rocketing out beneath the pavement and at two houses across the street. Glendale firefighters, whose station is just a few hundred feet from the break, were immediately on scene with vehicles to detour traffic …
