Driver Charged with DUI After Crashing Into Minivan with Disabled Child

Police say a driver who crashed into a minivan with a mother and her disabled son was high on drugs at the time.

Collier Township police have charged a driver who they say was high on drugs when he crashed into a minivan along Vanadium Road in September. Nathan McGuire, 19, of Mt. Lebanon, was driving up Vanadium on Sept. 9 when investigators said he lost control at the railroad tracks in Kirwan Heights and crashed into a minivan going the other way. The woman driving the van had to be cut out of the vehicle and was taken to a Pittsburgh area hospital. Her son in the van, who is disabled, was taken to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
