What would a turkey be on Thanksgiving without its faithful side companions? Often more popular than the turkey itself, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and other favorites are staples of the food coma-inducing meal. Cut each squash in half lengthwise and remove seeds. Brush sides and inner cavity with olive oil and place flesh-side down on a lightly-oiled baking sheet. Roast for approximately 45 minutes or until flesh is very soft and easy pulls away from the skin. After removing squash from oven, let …

I'm going to make this pie for Thanksgiving this year!
I am known for my delicious apple pies in my family, so that's what I am going to be making for Thanksgiving this year! I've been trying to reduce the amount of sugar in my deserts for a while, and I decided to try it out with my apple pie a few weeks ago. I substituted sugar for Splenda, and it's was still really tasty. I couldn't tell the difference, and neither could my mom or sister. I first learned how to make apple pie in my high school foods class, and I've been tweaking it ever since. I hope you enjoy this recipe! Ingredients: For crust (or you can buy unbaked pie shells) 2/3 cup and 1 tbsp. shortening 2 cups of flour 1 tsp. of salt 5 tbsp. ice water For filling 3 large apples sliced (you might need more) 1/4 cup of Splenda …

For crust: In medium bowl, combine crumbs, sugar and cinnamon. Add melted butter. Press down flat into a 9-inch springform pan. Set aside. For filling: Beat cream …

State Police and the Pennsylvania DUI Association discuss preventing drunken driving.
It's an unfortunate part of the holiday season each year, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Robin Mungo said. "We usually start to see it rise around Thanksgiving," Mungo said of drunken-driving arrests and crashes. "So this is a reminder to people around the holidays. If you have a friend who you've seen drinking, stop them before they get into a car." Standing alongside the state's DUI Victims Moving Memorial at the Mall at Robinson, Mungo said state police typically handle an increased number of drunken-driving arrests, crashes and fatalities during the December holiday season. PennDOT and Pennsylvania DUI Association officials joined her today at the memorial to urge Western Pennsylvania's drivers not to drink and drive during the …
