Residents Ask Scott Twp to Repair Swallow Hill Road

Scott Township officials estimate it will cost $1.5 million to reconstruct the Swallow Hill Road

Barbara Radvansky was embarrassed last August when her family came in from out of town for a wedding and they had to drive down Swallow Hill Road in Scott Township. “It’s like riding a washboard,” Radvansky said. She lives on Swallow Hill and told Scott Township commissioners at their Tuesday night workshop meeting the road need to be repaired now. “I don’t need to tell you how badly it is in disrepair,” she said. “It’s more than an eyesore. It’s a danger. Please do whatever you have to do to get it fixed.” The commissioners discussed taking out a loan for the road, but are still unsure how long that process will take or how much the repairs might cost. Scott Township Might Repave Swallow Hill Road

Scott Township is considering repaving the notoriously bumpy Swallow Hill Road. The township might also make some repairs to the equally as treacherous Kane Boulevard.

Scott Township is considering repaving the notoriously bumpy Swallow Hill Road. Scott Township commissioners discussed the issue last week and said they plan to repair the road, although they did not say when the work would begin, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The township estimates the job will cost $1.5 million to reconstruct the road from Scrubgrass Road past the Nob Hill Apartments, the newspaper reported. Swallow Hill Road was last reconstructed 25 years ago, although there have been minor patch jobs along the way. There could also be repairs to the equally as treacherous Kane Boulevard.
