Minor Damaged Reported in Bridgeville Area After Severe Storm

A roof blew off a building at the Sihol Concrete complex in Bridgeville, but there were very few other reports of damage from the Wednesday morning storm. Temperatures are expected to cool off Thursday with a chance of snow accumulation

Only minor damaged was reported in the Bridgeville area after strong storms blew through western Pennsylvania shortly before noon Wednesday. The most damage happened when a roof on one of the buildings at the Sihol Concrete complex in Bridgeville was blew off from the winds. Workers could be seen trying to fix the damage around noon. However, Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said there was little damage elsewhere in the borough. “We didn’t have any calls for the storm, which surprised me,” King said. The storm only lasted a few minutes, but brought high winds and heavy rain. That was enough to cause numerous branches to fall on some roads. Bridgeville's Streetscape Project Approved

Borough officials are "excited" to get the revitalization started.

Bridgeville last week received the go-ahead from the state to proceed with its streetscape project on Washington Avenue. The borough received a highway occupancy permit from PennDOT and now is able to put the project out to bid after nearly three years of planning.  Borough Manager Lori Collins announced the permit approval during Monday night’s council meeting. “We’ve been working on this for a long time so we’re excited,” Collins said. “The sidewalks need to be replaced because they’re getting old, and that’s what started this whole process.” There is no timeline on when construction will begin, but it probably will get started next spring.
