Fisher Price Recalls 800,000 Rock 'N Play Sleepers

Consumers should inspect their Fisher-Price Rock 'N Play Sleepers due to risk of mold in the seats.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 800,000 Fisher-Price Rock 'N Play Sleepers due to risk of exposure to mold for infants who use them. Mold can develop between the removable seat cushion and the hard plastic frame of the sleeper when it remains wet/moist or is infrequently cleaned, posing a risk of exposure to mold to infants sleeping in the product. Although mold is not present at the time of purchase, mold growth can occur after use of the product. Fisher-Price has received 600 reports of mold on the product. Sixteen consumers have reported that their infants have been treated for respiratory issues, coughs and hives after sleeping in the product. Ford Recalls 2013 Escape SUVs

A brake pedal issue that's affecting more than 8,000 SUVs prompted the recall.

The Ford Motor Company announced Sunday it is recalling more than 8,000 of its 2013 Escape compact SUVs because of a potential problem affecting the brake pedal, according to WTAE as reported by CNN.  The recall affects SUVs made between March 8 and June 7, 2012, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. There are 8,266 Escapes involved in the recall.  Ford says mispositioned carpet padding the center console trim panel may be pushed outward, reducing clearance with the pedals, according to the NHTSA. That reduced clearance may mean the driver's foot could brush the side of the brake pedal when going from the accelerator to the brake, thus increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash. Ford dealers, including…

Smucker's Recalls Peanut Butter

The peanut butter may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Take a look at your peanut butter jar before biting into PB&J this lunchtime. Smucker's is recalling thousands of 16-ounce jars of its Natural Peanut Butter Chunky because of possible Salmonella contamination. They have "Best if Used By" dates of Aug. 3, 2012 and Aug. 4, 2012, plus the production codes 1307004 and 1308004, and would have been purchased in the last week or so. The Giant Eagle Market District South Hills manager had not been notified of the recall. Meanwhile, managers at the Giant Eagles in Virginia Manor Shops and Chartiers Valley Shopping Center did not return call seeking comment. Salmonella is bacteria resulting in fever, cramps and diarrhea that lasts for several days and can require hospitalization. Smucker says no …
