Man Accused of DUI with Young Child in Car Waives Charges to Court

A Washington County man accused of driving drunk in Heidelberg with his young daughter in the car waived the most serious charges to court. Read about that and other preliminary hearing decisions by District Judge Gary Zyra.

A Washington County man accused of driving drunk in Heidelberg with his young daughter in the car waived the most serious charges to court. John Bonacci, 43, of Washington, waived to court charges of drunken driving, child endangerment, careless driving, reckless driving and several traffic citations before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary M. Zyra on Feb. 7. Three counts of reckless endangerment were withdrawn by Heidelberg police. Police said they stopped Bonacci on Dec. 4 and found him to be impaired while driving with the young girl in the vehicle. Man Accused of Theft Waives Charges

A Crafton man accused of stealing money from a car console while he was receiving a ride from a motorist waived his theft charge to court.

A Crafton man accused of stealing money from a car console while he was receiving a ride from a motorist waived his theft charge to court. Justin Lewchenko, 21, of Crafton, was charged with theft after Scott Township police said he took money from a vehicle’s console after receiving a ride on Jan. 15. Police said the driver picked Lewchecnko up in Crafton and dropped him off in Scott Township. Lewchenko waived the theft charge to court before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary M. Seven people who had preliminary hearings in the past week either waived the charges to court or were held for trial on the DUI counts. Read more in the weekly preliminary court round-up.

Seven people who had preliminary hearings in the past week either waived the charges to court or were held for trial on the DUI counts. Four people waived to court the DUI charges before their preliminary hearings with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Jan. 28. Three people who had their preliminary hearings with District Judge Gary Zyra on Jan. 24 will face trial on their DUI charges. Bridgeville Man Accused of Soliciting Minor For Sex Will Stand Trial

The Bridgeville man accused of soliciting sex from a 15-year-old while at fire hall Bingo is going to trial on all felony charges.

The Bridgeville man accused of soliciting sex from a 15-year-old while at fire hall Bingo is going to trial on all charges. John F. Spang, 54, waived to court felony charges of corruption of minors, criminal use of a communication facility, unlawful contact with minors and criminal solicitation before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Jan. 28. Investigators from the Bridgeville and Allegheny County police departments said Spang starting making sexual advances as the boy was volunteering at the weekly Bingo game at the borough’s fire hall on Dec. 3. He then later called the boy and made sexual advances, investigators said. Police arrested Spang at his Bridgeville apartment on Dec. 7. Spang is free on $5,…

Accused Scott Township Burglars Going to Trial

Two men accused of breaking-in to two Scott Township homes in the Birdland neighborhood earlier this month are heading to trial on burglary and other charges.

Two men accused of breaking-in to two Scott Township homes earlier this month are heading to trial on burglary and other charges. Brian Butt, 27, of Bridgeville, and Grant Goeckeler, 29, of Scott, are accused of burglarizing a home in the 1300 block of Meadowlark Drive shortly on Jan. 8. Scott Township police said the resident came home and found the door open and markings on a rear door. Police said they later found Butt and Goeckeler nearby with some of the items allegedly stolen from the house. Teen Charged in Fire Extinguisher Prank Going to Trial

A Pittsburgh teen who was caught on cell phone video discharging a fire extinguisher at a Scott Township pizza restaurant is heading to trial on some of the charges.

A Pittsburgh teen who was caught on cell phone video discharging a fire extinguisher at a Scott Township pizza restaurant is heading to trial on some of the charges. Jacob R. Stewart, 19, waived to court charges of risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief, theft and five counts of reckless endangerment before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary M. Zyra on Jan. 17. Numerous other charges, including multiple counts of simple assault and conspiracy, were withdrawn by police. Scott Township police said Stewart took a fire extinguisher from the Pizza Hut on Greentree Road and discharged it as a prank on Nov. 29. Driver Who Crashed Into Minivan Heading to Trial on DUI Charges

A Mt. Lebanon teen police say was high on drugs when he crashed into a minivan on Vanadium Road in Kirawn Heights is heading to trial on DUI charges. The most serious charges, however, were withdrawn.

A Mt. Lebanon teen accused of being high when police say he crashed into a minivan on Vanadium Road in Kirawn Heights is heading to trial on DUI charges. Nathan L. McGuire, 19, waived to court charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, reckless driving and other traffic citations. However, two counts of reckless endangerment were withdrawn before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Jan. 7. McGuire was driving up Vanadium Road on Sept. 9 when Collier Township police said he lost control at the railroad tracks in Kirwan Heights and crashed into a minivan going the other way. Accused Scrap Thieves Heading to Trial

Two Scott Township residents accused of stealing scrap metal and trying to sell it are heading to trial on theft and other charges. Joshua Popp, 29, and Amanda Mayfield, 25, both of Scott Township, had charges of theft, receiving stolen property and trespassing held for court during their preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary Zyra on Dec. 20. Scott Township police said the two took scrap metal from the 200 block of Hope Street on Oct. 9 and were found trying to sell it at All American Metals. One count of driving on a suspended license against Popp and a drug paraphernalia charge against Mayfield were also held for court during the hearing. Woman Who Allegedly Fought Officers During Traffic Stop Going to Trial

A driver who allegedly was under the influence of drugs and alcohol while fighting with officers and paramedics during a traffic stop waived all charges to court. Read about that and other preliminary hearing decisions by Magistrate Maureen McGraw-Desmet.

A driver who Collier police say was under the influence of drugs and alcohol while fighting with officers and paramedics during a traffic stop will head to trial on numerous charges. Melani Buck, 36, of Tarentum, waived her right to a preliminary hearing on four felony charges of aggravated assault, along with other charges of DUI, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and criminal mischief. Police said they stopped Buck on Pinkerton Run Road near Settlers Cabin Park before she allegedly kicked two officers and a paramedic. She later had to be taken to a Pittsburgh area hospital after suffering some sort of medical problem. She waived all of the charges before her preliminary hearing scheduled with District Judge Maureen …
