Robert Jasper, 47, is accused of taking took the woman’s car from her Elmbrook Lane home and driving it around the neighborhood on March 8. He was held for trial on charges of theft, terroristic threats and resisting arrest during his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary Zyra on April 4. Scott Township police said the woman was fearful so she didn’t contact them. However, another person in the neighborhood noticed Jasper driving the woman’s car and called police. The Scott Township man accused of molesting a young boy over several years was held for court on indecent assault and other charges during his preliminary hearing on March 28. Scott Township police charged Garry Burgess, 44, on March 8 with felony counts of indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and unlawful contact with a minor. District Judge Gary Zyra held Burgess for court on all of the charges except for the unlawful contact count, which was dismissed. Investigators said the molestation began about five years ago when the boy was in second grade. A West Virginia man whom state police say was driving erratically on Interstate 79 before running from troopers will stand trial on DUI and other charges. Daniel P. Baker, 33, of Fairmont, W.Va., was held for court on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, fleeing police, careless driving and reckless driving during his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on April 1. State police said they tried to stop Baker along I-79 in Collier Township on Dec. 19 when he refused to pull over. Police did not say how long the chase lasted or which direction he was heading. One of two men accused of burglarizing a Scott Township building and stealing copper to sell for scrap is going to trial on the charges. Charles Grodes, 36, of Upper St. Clair, waived to court charges of theft and trespassing during his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary Zyra on March 21. He is being held on $10,000 bond and his formal arraignment is scheduled for May 8. Scott Township police said Grodes and Dale Brannan, 48, of Carnegie, entered a building in the 200 block of Noblestown Road on Jan. 25 and took an undisclosed amount of copper. A Bridgeville man facing numerous drug charges during three separate arrests in three weeks is going to trial. Brenton A. Dillon, 28, waived to court two felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, two misdemeanor charges of drug possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. One felony charge of possession with intent to deliver was withdrawn during his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on March 25. Bridgeville police said they charged Dillon on Jan. 23, Feb. 6 and 13. Police said Dillon brought illegal prescription drugs and paraphernalia with him to the police station on Jan. 23 while aiding a separate investigation. Agents from the state Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit accused a Bethel Park man of possessing and distributing child pornography on his personal computer. David O’Connell, 34, was arrested and charged on March 21 after state agents and Bethel Park police raided the Holly Lynne Drive home he shares with his parents. Investigators said they began tracking O’Connell’s Internet usage in January and eventually discovered he was sharing files of underage girls performing sex acts on themselves and others. Investigators said O’Connell admitted to possessing several videos on his computer of underage girls, some as young as 8, performing sex acts with adults or other children. A Heidelberg woman accused of alerting police to a false emergency is heading to trial on most of the charges. Heidelberg police said Heather Dickson, 27, called officers to her borough home last month for a report of an argument with another person. But police said there was never an emergency and she lied to them about the incident. Police charged her on March 4 after investigating. Dickson waived to court charges of false information to police, false reports and false alarms to emergency responders. The man accused of numerous smash-and-grab car break-ins last year in Bridgeville is heading to trial on dozens of charges related to the thefts Phillip Acosta, 26, formerly of Bridgeville, waived to court 23 counts of criminal mischief, 18 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, 16 counts of receiving stolen property and six counts of criminal attempt before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Feb. 15. Investigators said Acosta admitted to many of the more than 20 “smash-and-grab” car break-ins that occurred in the borough in January 2012. A Crafton area woman accused of assault, terroristic threats and illegally carrying a firearm will stand trial on most of the charges. Mary E. Carnahan, 52, was held for court on a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license and misdemeanor counts of weapons possession, simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats.
