Trespassing Charge Dropped Against Carnegie Man

Trespassing and disorderly conduct charges against a Carnegie man accused of being at a Scott Township residence in July have been withdrawn.

Trespassing and disorderly conduct charges against a Carnegie man accused of being at a Scott Township residence in July have been withdrawn. Both charges against 56-year-old Gerard Romeo were withdrawn during his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary M. Zyra on Nov. 29. Scott Township police arrested Romeo in the early hours of July 30 after they said he was trespassing on a Segar Road residence. They did not elaborate on what he was doing at the residence. Some Charges Dropped Against Man Accused of Assaulting Officers

Some charges have been dropped against a Bridgeville man accused of assaulting police officers following his arrest for DUI in October. Charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct against 48-year-old John Hall were withdrawn during his preliminary hearing on Nov. 19. However, charges of drunken driving, simple assault, terrorist threats and careless driving against him were waived to court during his hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet. Police said Hall became combative after officers conducted a field sobriety test in the 200 block of Washington Avenue on Oct. 17. Much of my family lives overseas and the laws in their country are much more strict about driving under the influence. They treat it as severely as we treat federal offenses. For that reason, there are a whole lot more cabs and a lot less tragedy. C'mon USA!   more ›

Providence Point Security Guard Accused of Thefts Going to Trial

The Providence Point security guard who allegedly stole $150,000 worth of items from residents last year is heading to trial on all charges.

The Providence Point security guard who allegedly stole $150,000 worth of items from residents last year waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will head to trial on all charges. Steven Kowalski, 49, of Baldwin, was accused of a burglarizing numerous apartments in the Scott Township retirement home and taking jewelry, fine silverware and plate settings. Scott Township police arrested him on May 31 and charged him with 16 counts of burglary, nine counts of theft and one count of receiving stolen property. He waived all of the charges to trial before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary Zyra on Sept. 27 The thefts began in late October 2011 and ramped up in early December when residents reported seven thefts in 10 days. …
