Bridgeville's Triangle Park will be decorated with colorful lights Friday night for the borough’s annual Winter Blast festival. There will be ice carvings, a bonfire supervised by the volunteer fire department, music provided by Froggy Radio, food, hot cocoa, holiday raffles and the Chartiers Valley High School choir. Of course, the most popular part of the evening will be the lighting of the park and arrival of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus on a fire truck. Heidelberg is holding its third annual “First Night of Lights” at the Ellsworth Avenue playground on Saturday night. The event will go from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 1 and include live music, an ice sculptor, food, hay rides and a chance for kids to tell Santa what they want for Christmas. The night will culminate with the lighting of the borough’s Christmas tree. The borough is also partnering with the Marine Corps Toys for Toys campaign, which will give residents a chance to donate a new, unwrapped toy at the festival. Light Up Night in the City of Pittsburgh is today, Friday, Nov. 16. Closures
Tonight is the 52nd annual Light Up Night in the City of Pittsburgh. Although it’s exciting to kick off the holiday festivities, there are a few parking restrictions and road closures to be aware of if you're headed Downtown from the South Hills Pittsburgh police recommend that visitors use parking garages and surface lots to ensure that visitors aren’t parked in a restricted area. They also want you to be safe while you’re Downtown, and remind visitors to remove valuables from view and keep vehicles locked. Like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter @CharValleyPatch Heidelberg held its second annual First Night of Lights at the Ellsworth Avenue Playground on a chilly Saturday night. An ice sculptor carved a snowman, live music filled the playground, children enjoyed hayrides and, of course, Santa Claus arrived on a vintage Heidelberg fire engine. The borough has also partnered with the Marine Corps Toys for Toys campaign and had a box for people to donate toys. Earlier in the day, there was the Christmas Shopping Extravaganza Vender Show and bake sale with the Three Hierarchs Eastern Orthodox School.
