Scott Township is considering repaving the notoriously bumpy Swallow Hill Road. The township might also make some repairs to the equally as treacherous Kane Boulevard.

Both roads are pitted with potholes and bumps that have drivers swerving to miss them for fear busting an axle or two. However, when the …

Security Guard Accused of Providence Point Thefts

Police say a Providence Point security guard is responsible for last year’s rash of burglaries and thefts at the Scott Township retirement home.

Scott Township police say a Providence Point security guard was responsible for last year’s rash of burglaries and thefts at the retirement home. Steven Kowalski, 49, of Baldwin, already has been charged with two counts of burglary along with receiving stolen property and theft after police said they arrested him when he showed up for his evening shift on May 31. Investigators said they received a break in the case earlier that morning when a resident came home to find her deadbolt unlocked and a man hiding behind a chair in her apartment. Police said Kowalski put a cushion over his face and walked past the resident to leave her residence. The resident didn’t see his face, but said he had dark hair and was wearing a white shirt and black …

Providence Point Worker Charged with Stealing Resident's Checks

Police aren't sure if the nursing assistant is also involved in other thefts at the Scott Township facility.

Scott Township police have obtained an arrest warrant against a former nursing assistant at Providence Point accused of cashing a resident’s checks. Police on Jan. 2 charged Lucy J. Reynolds, 34, of Pittsburgh, with three counts each of forgery and receiving stolen property, and another charge of false reports to police. A state constable is searching for Reynolds to arrest her. Police said Reynolds worked as a certified nursing assistant at Providence Point and took a resident’s checkbook and cashed three checks. However, investigators said she denies being involved in the rash of thefts that swept through the Scott Township assisted living facility over the past few months. “At this time, she is not a suspect in the other reported thefts…
