The holidays are officially over as the Christmas lights finally came down in Bridgeville this week. The borough’s public works crews spent Tuesday taking down the holiday decorations that adorned each lamp post along Washington Avenue. By noon, all the decorations on the westbound side of Route 50 were gone and dragged off in the public work department’s red pick-up truck. Do you still have your Christmas and holiday lights up at your house? When do you usually take them down? Tell us in the comment section below! According to the National Fire Prevention Association, December and January have the highest rates of residential fires. The good news is that our communities seem to be a little below the norm. "We haven't really seen an increase in fires during the holiday season over the past few years," said Bridgeville …

Area residents, businesses decorate for the holidays
There's always that one special thing that puts you in the holiday mood, the one thing that when it happens, you just know it's that time of year. Whether it's a favorite Christmas carol, the Black Friday shopping rush or a lighted display, it signals another year of celebration with family and friends. For me, it's Anderson Equipment Company's festive display along Washington Pike in Collier.
