TRAVEL: Hitting the Road? PA State Police Offer Tips to Stay Safe on the Highway

If the snow can't keep you at home, read and heed these reminders from Pennsylvania State Police in Moon before getting behind the wheel.

Not letting the snow keep you cooped up at home? Planning a driving trip today or before the New Year? Pennsylvania State Police in Moon Township offer these tips and suggestions for safe highway travel during this holiday week, when traffic traditionally is heavier than usual: Troopers also remind motorists who are involved in a fender-bender crash to merge safely to the right berm, exchange information there and proceed to their destinations. Festival of Trees Returns to Bridgeville

The fundraiser for the Bridgeville Public Library will have more than 30 personalized trees designed by area businesses and residents.

The annual Festival of Trees is returning to Bridgeville this weekend with numerous decorated trees, raffles, food and Santa Claus performing magic. The weekend fundraiser at the Bridgeville Fire Department's Chartiers Room supports the library and will have more than 30 personalized trees designed by area businesses and residents. Betty Copeland, who is the chairperson for the ninth annual event, said each tree carries the personality of the business or person who entered it into the competition. She pointed to a Punxsutawney Phil Christmas tree by the "Outer Circle Groundhog Club" as an example of one of the trees that will be displayed this weekend. “It’s amazing the themes they come up with,” Copeland said. Holiday magic is returning to South Hills Village as the Santa Photo Experience opened to greet children with their wish lists Friday.

Children can be photographed with Santa beginning weekdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lower Level North Court.
