Light flurries around dawn Friday are expected to turn into heavier snow later in the afternoon and evening. Dennis Sims, a meteorologist at Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville, expects there to be “off-and-on light snow” during the morning in the South Hills of Pittsburgh before it gets heavier later in the day. That could bring 2-to-4 inches of snowfall in the area by Saturday afternoon. Some other forecasters are predicting 3-to-5 inches in the Pittsburgh area. “It’s just a matter of trying to time this thing and how it’s going to develop,” Sims said.
