Charges Held Against Woman Involved in Bridgeville Drug Bust

An update on court cases heard by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet.

The following is an update on court cases heard by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on May 6. McGraw-Desmet oversees Bridgeville and Collier Township. Charges were held for court on Monday against a Bridgeville woman involved in a drug bust at a house where two young children lived. Shelby Casper, 21, is charged with firearms possession, altering a firearm, marijuana possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children. The charges were held for court following a preliminary hearing May 6 before Magisterial District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet. Bridgeville police said Casper was asleep on the third floor of a Union Street home March 15 when officers arrived to check on the welfare …

Driver Who Crashed Into Tanker Truck Waives Charges for Court

An update on court cases heard by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet.

The following is an update on court cases heard by District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet in April. McGraw-Desmet oversees Bridgeville and Collier Township. A Cecil Township man charged with DUI and other crimes after he crashed into a tanker truck in Bridgeville has waived the charges for court. Devin D. Carter, 38, was arrested Feb. 8 after Bridgeville police said they saw him walking away from the scene of a crash on Bower Hill Road. Carter is accused of crashing into a tanker truck while driving under the influence of drugs. The truck’s fuel tank ruptured as a result of the crash, spilling diesel onto the roadway and causing traffic delays. Carter was charged with DUI, carless driving and operating a vehicle without valid inspection. …

Man Facing Numerous Drug Charges Going to Trial

A Bridgeville man facing numerous drug charges during three separate arrests in three weeks is going to trial.

A Bridgeville man facing numerous drug charges during three separate arrests in three weeks is going to trial. Brenton A. Dillon, 28, waived to court two felony charges of possession with intent to deliver, two misdemeanor charges of drug possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. One felony charge of possession with intent to deliver was withdrawn during his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on March 25. Bridgeville police said they charged Dillon on Jan. 23, Feb. 6 and 13. Police said Dillon brought illegal prescription drugs and paraphernalia with him to the police station on Jan. 23 while aiding a separate investigation. A Heidelberg woman accused of alerting police to a false emergency is heading to trial on most of the charges.

A Heidelberg woman accused of alerting police to a false emergency is heading to trial on most of the charges. Heidelberg police said Heather Dickson, 27, called officers to her borough home last month for a report of an argument with another person. But police said there was never an emergency and she lied to them about the incident. Police charged her on March 4 after investigating. Dickson waived to court charges of false information to police, false reports and false alarms to emergency responders. Man Who Prompted SWAT Team Response in Collier Going to Trial

The man who claimed he had taken a woman hostage in his Collier Township residence, prompting a massive police response last December, is going to trial on numerous reckless endangerment charges.

The man who claimed he had taken a woman hostage in his Collier Township residence, prompting a massive police response last December, is going to trial on numerous reckless endangerment charges. Investigators said Ronald Harrison, 34, called 911 in the early hours of Dec. 23 to say he had a hostage at his apartment on Dog Leg Drive near Nevillewood. That brought police officers from Collier, Heidelberg, Scott and the Allegheny County SWAT team. Police said the man told dispatchers he had a handgun and officers apparently heard a gunshot when they arrived. Police said they found a handgun in the bedroom and numerous rounds of ammunition. Accused Smash-and-Grab Thief Going to Trial on Dozens of Charges

The man accused of numerous smash-and-grab car break-ins last year in Bridgeville is heading to trial on dozens of charges related to the thefts.

The man accused of numerous smash-and-grab car break-ins last year in Bridgeville is heading to trial on dozens of charges related to the thefts Phillip Acosta, 26, formerly of Bridgeville, waived to court 23 counts of criminal mischief, 18 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, 16 counts of receiving stolen property and six counts of criminal attempt before his preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Feb. 15. Investigators said Acosta admitted to many of the more than 20 “smash-and-grab” car break-ins that occurred in the borough in January 2012. Crafton Woman Accused of Assault Going to Trial

A Crafton area woman accused of assault, terroristic threats and illegally carrying a firearm will stand trial on most of the charges. Mary E. Carnahan, 52, was held for court on a felony charge of carrying a firearm without a license and misdemeanor counts of weapons possession, simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats. A felony aggravated assault charge was withdrawn during her preliminary court hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Feb. 11.
