Police say a mother and son went on a 24-hour crime spree around Bridgeville and Collier last week, using a stolen credit card to buy booze and allegedly conspiring to burglarize a local bar. Investigators arrested Michael Tharp, 28, of Cecil, and Wanda Balukus, 51, of Bridgeville, and charged them with numerous crimes. Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said the crime spree started when Tharp stole a wallet and credit card from a customers at Sauce on June 18. King said he gave the credit card to his mom, who later used it to buy alcohol and other merchandise at the Beer Warehouse, 7-Eleven convenience store, Kmart and Wine & Spirits store. DiMario’s Railroad Street Cafe in Bridgeville was burglarized early Tuesday morning.
A hungry burglar broke into DiMario’s Railroad Street Cafe in Bridgeville early Tuesday morning and stole the cash register, several bottles of liquor… and four hoagies. Bridgeville police said someone used a rock to smash the door of the restaurant at 429 Railroad St. some time after 2:30 a.m. and took the $20 of cash, four bottles of various liquors and the sandwiches. Bridgeville police Chief Chad King said they were able to recover blood from the scene when the person was cut on the door and are testing the DNA samples to find a match. They’re also were looking for fingerprints inside the building and on bottles.
