Unsolved Cases: Body Found near Claysville 41 Years Ago Still Unidentified

A man's body was found near Old Route 40 in Washington County in February 1972. The death was ruled a homicide, but authorities have never been able to identify the man.

An Avella resident was hitchhiking on Old Route 40 in Donegal Township, Washington County, about 9:20 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, 1972 when he spotted the badly decomposed body of a man. The man was down an embankment, about 65 feet south of the roadway. His skeletal remains were found in a briar thicket, near a small trash dump, about two miles west of Claysville. It was estimated that he had been there for about 8 to 10 weeks. The man's death was ruled a homicide, according to the Pennsylvania Missing Persons website. The man had gunshot wounds in his left torso, possibly from a .22-caliber weapon. Former U.S. Senator Arlen Specter Dies

The former U.S. Senator died Sunday morning, according to several sources.

Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday morning due to complications from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, according to reports from numerous news agencies. Specter was 82. The Pennsylvania senator was elected to the Senate in 1980 and served for 30 years, which is longer than any other Pennsylvania senator. He lost the seat in 2010 after switching from the Republican to the Democratic party and losing a primary campaign against Joe Sestak. Authorities Identify Worker Killed in Fall at Scott Township Industrial Park

The Mercer County man working at an industrial park near Carnegie apparently fell 30 feet to his death Tuesday.

Authorities have identified the Mercer County man who died Tuesday afternoon after he fell from the roof of an industrial park near Carnegie. Melvin Kinsinger, 38, Greenville, was working on the roof of the Future-All Incorporated building at Gregg and Hammond streets in the Scott Township industrial park when he fell 30 feet from the roof, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office. Glendale Volunteer Fire Department officials said he fell shortly before 3 p.m. Scott Township police and firefighters from Glendale and East Carnegie were called to the industrial park to assist the Allegheny County homicide investigators at the scene.
