Leaking Tanker Truck Causes Lengthy Evacuations Near Carnegie
A leaking tanker truck on Noblestown Road in Collier Township has forced nearby residents to evacuate and PennDOT to close the Carnegie interstate exit. Residents were allowed to return to their homes shortly before 6 p.m.
A leaking tanker truck on Noblestown Road near Carnegie forced nearby residents and workers to evacuate the area for nearly seven hours Wednesday. Collier police stopped the tanker truck, which was leaking an unknown fuel, around 11 a.m. Wednesday as it was heading into Carnegie near the Interstate 79 exit, Kirwan Heights fire Chief Mark Lewis said. The chemical was removed from the tanker and the road was reopened around 5:45 p.m. The problem forced the evacuation of nearby homes in Collier’s Cubbage Hill neighborhood and PennDOT closed the Carnegie exit of I-79.
