What Should Replace Cici’s Pizza?

We’re asking our readers what you want to see go into the former Cici's Pizza location in the Chartiers Valley Shopping Center after it closed months ago.

Cici’s Pizza at Chartiers Valley Shopping Center has been closed for months, so we’re asking our readers what you want to see go into the former restaurant’s location. The empty restaurant along highly-traveled Route 50 is just a few doors down from Dunham’s sporting goods store and the DMV. It would make a perfect spot for a new restaurant or shop. What does this area need that it doesn’t already have nearby? So, if you could see any business in this location, what would you like in the plaza? If not a restaurant, what else do you see here? Use your imagination and tell us in the comment section! Like the Chartiers Valley Patch Facebook page or sign up for our Daily E-mail Newsletter!

Towns Look For New Dog Catchers after Triangle Pet Closes

The recent closure of an animal control company is putting Collier Township, South Fayette and many other South Hills communities in a bind.

The recent closure of an animal control company is putting Collier Township and other South Hills communities in a bind. Triangle Pet Services, the McKees Rocks dog catcher that is used by many area communities, was shut down by the state because of possible fraud and poor living conditions for the animals housed inside. That means places such as Collier and South Fayette haven’t been able to take care of complaints about loose dogs if needed. Collier police Chief Tom Devin said they are using a temporary company that can help with some emergency cases, but not day-to-day calls. “Now we’re scrambling, along with many other communities, to find someone to do the job. That makes it fairly tough,” Devin said. “Hopefully we won’t have any …

I am not surprised Triangle Pet was shut down. There have been compaints against them for years. I also saw the report on the news and how Triangle Pet still has many dogs on the premises. Thank goodness for caring volunteers trying to find homes & shelter for these animals. I wish luck to Collier and South Fayette.   more ›

The Destinta Theatres at Chartiers Valley Shopping Center closed this week, but will immediately be replaced by Phoenix Big Cinemas. Joy... When did you purchase the entertainment book? The Destinta changed hands in August, so I'm not sure Phoenix Big will accept the tickets. You can also ask them if they will. If not, I would contact the Entertainment Book.   more ›

Cupcakes N'At in Bridgeville Closes

The popular gourmet cupcake shop in Bridgeville closed just four months after opening on Station Street.

A sign hanging from a window at Cupcakes N’at in Bridgeville tells an ironic tale: “Life is short… Eat more cupcakes.” Unfortunately, life was also short for the gourmet cupcake shop. The popular shop closed earlier this month, leaving regular patrons to wonder what happened. The shop opened in early March and sisters Tamie Godfrey of Scott Township and Billie Jo Giehll of Heidelberg whipped of tasty treats for their customers. The former owners could not be reached for comment on why the shop closed just four months after opening. The store quickly gained quite a following and enticed people with the sweet aromas coming from the shop on Station Street next to Sauce. Each of the cupcakes were named after popular Pittsburguese slogans, such…

I also would like to know why they closed? Was it because of no advertising? They were back there and you could not see them from the main road. Their cupcakes were awesome and I cannot believe they gave up after such a such period there. I hope someone can get to the bottom of why they closed. It was the nearest bakery for ome!   more ›
