The holidays are officially over as the Christmas lights finally came down in Bridgeville this week. The borough’s public works crews spent Tuesday taking down the holiday decorations that adorned each lamp post along Washington Avenue. By noon, all the decorations on the westbound side of Route 50 were gone and dragged off in the public work department’s red pick-up truck. With the holidays fast approaching and many things on our minds, it's often too easy to forget simple safety tips that could prevent a fire or accident in the home. While the holidays are filled with beautiful decorations, warm fires, and plenty of wrapped presents, there is an increased risk of fire during this time. Kennywood Park is all lit up for the holidays and some rides are open for its December festival.
More than one million dazzling lights and displays are illuminating Kennywood Park for the holiday season. Kennywood Holiday Lights will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, through Dec. 30, plus Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 26 and 27. These rides are open during Holiday Lights: Gingerbread Express (Olde Kennywood RR), Merry-Go-Round, Paratrooper, Kangaroo, Ghostwood Estate (with a special holiday theme), Turtle, Auto Race, and up to nine Kiddieland rides.
