Grandmother Allegedly Left Kids in Car to Go Black Friday Shopping at Walmart

Police say a Scott Township woman left her two young grandchildren in the car to go Black Friday shopping on Thanksgiving night.

Scott Township police say a grandmother left her two young grandchildren in the car to go Black Friday shopping in Walmart. Bridget Bruce, 55, of Scott, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children after police said she went shopping at Walmart and left the grandchildren ages 5 and 7, in the car around 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. Scott police Chief Jim Secreet said he and four other police officers were patrolling the parking lot when he saw the two “well dressed” children walking toward the store without an adult. “It caught my eye right away,” Secreet said. “They were too young.” The kids got the attention of a Walmart greeter and asked for help finding their grandmother. Vending Machine Stolen, Sold for Scrap

A Coca-Cola vending machine was stolen earlier this month in Scott Township and apparently sold for scrap. Read about that and other crime news in the weekly Scott Township police blotter.

A Coca-Cola vending machine was stolen earlier this month in Scott Township and apparently sold for scrap. Scott Township police said the vending machine was discovered missing from the 600 block of Idlewood Avenue on Oct. 9. Police said the machine was left unsecured outside a duplex in the East Carnegie neighborhood. Investigators think the vending machine was later sold for scrap metal. Police said they are continuing to investigate and did not release where the metal was sold or who may have taken it. Charges Dropped Against Dad Who Left Kids at Scott Park to Shower

Scott police decided to withdraw the child endangerment charges after he agreed to take several weeks of parenting classes.

Authorities have dropped child endangerment charges against the Scott Township father who left his kids at Scott Park while he showered at a local gym. Scott Township police and the Allegheny County district attorney’s office decided to withdraw the two counts against 38-year-old Govindaraj Narayanasamy after he agreed to take several weeks of parenting classes. Scott police Chief Jim Secreet said the preliminary hearing was postponed three times while Narayanasamy took the courses. The charges were eventually dropped before his Aug. 9 preliminary hearings before District Judge Gary Zyra after Narayanasamy completed the class. “It’s not something where you want him to go to jail,” Secreet said. “But you just want to get them on the right …

Three adults who are accused of letting an 18-month-old boy wander unsupervised around Carothers Avenue in Scott Township will head to trial on child endangerment charges.

Three adults who are accused of letting an 18-month-old boy wander unsupervised around Carothers Avenue in Scott Township will head to trial on child endangerment charges. Police said Thomas Pointer, 64, April R. Keach, 47, and Gary L. Schuck, 54, didn’t watch the young boy when he left their Hill Street backyard and walked around the busy Glendale roadway. A Scott Township police officer driving through the area shortly after noon on May 3 spotted the boy and picked him up. Police said the parents of the children asked the three adults to watch the boy and his 8-month-old sister the night before while they went out. Scott Township Children allegedly left in hot car: A 22-year-old Carnegie woman faces three counts of child endangerment after Scott police said she left three kids in her car to shop at Walmart as temperatures reached 84 degrees outside. Police said Martina Searcy left the children, who are ages 5, 4 and 6-months, in the car and were sweating in the vehicle when officers arrived to check on their conditions shortly after 6 p.m. on May 23. Three people face child endangerment charges after Scott police said they found a 18-month-old boy wandering unsupervised around the heavily traveled Carothers Avenue. Sgt. Jeff Skees was driving in a police car when he spotted the young boy standing on a curb along Carothers Avenue in the Glendale neighborhood at around 12:15 p.m. on May 3. He stopped and tried to talking to the boy before finding 64-year-old Thomas Pointer, who was one of the adults in charge of watching the boy, according to a criminal complaint supporting the charges. Police say a father left his two young children alone at Scott Park for nearly two hours Saturday to shower at LA Fitness.

Police say a father left his two children alone at Scott Park while shopping at Walmart and showering at LA Fitness. Govindaraj Narayanasamy, 38, of Scott, was charged with two counts of child endangerment after township police said he left the 6-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy alone in the park for nearly two hours Saturday. Officers were called to Scott Park at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday from a person who noticed the two children playing on the swings and slides alone without a guardian. The woman told police she had been keeping an eye on them for an hour because she knew the girl and became concerned.
