The Chartiers Valley Colts baseball team takes on the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles in the second round of playoffs today, Wednesday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m. The Colts won their first-round playoff game 2-1 in eight innings against the Bell Vernon Leopards. The Chartiers Valley Colts boys’ basketball team fell after the Montour Spartans pulled ahead 47-40 in the final minutes of the WPIAL AAA championship game at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Duquesne Friday night. The game got under way after a short delay and the Colts scored two points within first ten seconds, according to the district’s official Twitter feed at @CVSDcolts. At the end of the first quarter, the Colts were up 18-11. Spencer Casson's 14 points took Chartiers Valley to 29-20 halftime lead over Montour, according to The Almanac's @SHAlmanacSports Twitter feed. Both the Chartiers Valley boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams will play their WPIAL semifinal playoff games Tuesday night at North Allegheny.
Both the Chartiers Valley boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams will play their WPIAL semifinal playoff games Tuesday night at North Allegheny. The Lady Colts will play Mt. Lebanon at 6 p.m. after their 55-52 victory over Upper St. Clair on Friday night. The winner will play either Gateway or Bethel Park in the WPIAL championship game. Meanwhile, the top-seeded boys’ basketball team will play Beaver at 8 p.m. The winner of that game will play either Mars or Montour in the WPIAL championship game. The Chartiers Valley Colts boys’ basketball team beat the Knoch Knights on Tuesday night to advance in the AAA WPIAL playoffs.
The Chartiers Valley boys’ basketball team blew out Knoch on Tuesday night to advance in the AAA WPIAL playoffs. The Colts easily beat the Knights 77-43 at North Allegheny High School in their first game in these playoffs. The top-seeded Colts now will face Division 5 rival South Fayette at 8 p.m. Friday at Canon-Mac. Niel Loebig, an assistant offensive coach at Duquesne University, was hired Tuesday night as Chartiers Valley’s new football coach.
Chartiers Valley has hired a new varsity football coach. Niel Loebig, an assistant offensive coach at Duquesne University, was hired Tuesday night by the Chartiers Valley School Board. Loebig, who graduated from South Fayette High School in 2000, spent last year at Duquesne as the passing game coordinator and receivers coach. Loebig also played quarterback at Duquesne before graduating with an education degree from the school in 2005. “We believe Coach Loebig’s years of experience combined with his skills and qualifications will make him an asset to the Chartiers Valley football program,” Superintendent Brian White Jr. said in a statement. The Chartiers Valley Colts lost to New Castle during their Friday night Homecoming game. The Colts (2-3, 1-3) lost to New Castle 50-22 in the WPIAL Parkway Conference matchup, according to WPXI-TV. The Chartiers Valley Colts easily beat Ellwood City on Friday night in their only non-conference WPIAL game of the season.
