Although Earth Day is officially April 22, it's not too early for residents of Bridgeville and Heidelberg boroughs and Collier and Scott townships to begin to look at ways to be more environmentally friendly. The following is a list of items, provided in part by the Allegheny County Health Department, that should not be in landfills and generally aren't collected through municipal recycling. Fire companies from Dormont and Castle Shannon joined Mt. Lebanon firefighters in battling the blaze.
TRAFFIC UPDATE (3:39 p.m.): All of McNeilly Road has been reopened. A Thursday morning fire at a McNeilly Road home in Mt. Lebanon killed two people. The Post-Gazette is reporting that crews were dispatched to 916 McNeilly Rd. about 7:20 a.m. Mt. Lebanon police Deputy Chief Mike Gallagher said the house was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. In addition to Mt. Lebanon firefighters, fire companies from Dormont and Castle Shannon boroughs also responded. The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating the cause and origin of the fire, but the blaze is not suspicious, according to the Post-Gazette.
