A pizza delivery driver was injured Saturday night when he crashed on snow-covered roads in Collier. His vehicle ended up 100 feet over a hillside and he had to crawl from the car to get help.
A pizza delivery driver was injured Saturday night when he crashed on snow-covered roads in Collier Township. The driver slid over a hillside near Kellington Drive and the car landed 100 feet below. The driver reportedly crawled from his car and was able to call out for help to nearby residents. The driver suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Emergency crews responding to crashes on Vanadium Road is becoming a common occurrence nowadays. Two people suffered injuries in a two-car rollover crash at Vanadium and Main Street around 3:30 p.m. Monday. Bower Hill firefighters said one car rolled over after it was struck by another car. One of the drivers had to be extricated from the car, and both of the motorists were taken to Pittsburgh area hospitals with what were deemed minor injuries, firefighters said. It was the third crash in the area since Saturday and the second rollover crash at the intersection since Aug. 24. One person was taken to an area hospital in the Friday night crash in Scott Township. Collier Township police also responded to a Sunday morning crash in Kirwan Heights when a PAT bus collided with a car.
Emergency crews didn't have to travel far to respond to cars crashes within 36 hours of each other near Kirwan Heights. Firefighters responded to a single-car accident on Vanadium Road at Main Street in Scott Township around 11 p.m. Friday when a Jeep crashed and rolled over. The crash happened right next to the Bower Hill Volunteer Fire Department, which responded with the assistance of East Carnegie and Glendale firefighters and Scott Township police. One person was injured in the crash and taken to an area hospital, Bower Hill firefighters said. That person’s name and condition were not released. The cause of that crash is under investigation. A woman lost control of her car and crashed through the landside terminal's moving walkway.
No one was injured when a woman lost control of her Toyota Prius and crashed through the moving walkway doors leading to Pittsburgh International Airport. Airport spokeswoman JoAnn Jenny said a woman lost control of her car at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday as she attempted to enter a longterm parking ramp, crashing through a gateway near the Pittsburgh Airport Hyatt Regency. The woman's vehicle crashed into a moveable walkway near the hotel. No one was on the walkway at the time and the crash did not interfere with airport operations.
