Pizza Delivery Driver Injured in Crash

A pizza delivery driver was injured Saturday night when he crashed on snow-covered roads in Collier. His vehicle ended up 100 feet over a hillside and he had to crawl from the car to get help.

A pizza delivery driver was injured Saturday night when he crashed on snow-covered roads in Collier Township. The driver slid over a hillside near Kellington Drive and the car landed 100 feet below. The driver reportedly crawled from his car and was able to call out for help to nearby residents. The driver suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Woman Struck By Car on Carothers Avenue in Glendale

A woman crossing Carothers Avenue in Glendale was struck by a car and seriously injured Thursday.

A woman crossing Carothers Avenue in Glendale was struck by a car and seriously injured Thursday night. Glendale fire Chief Tom Salerno said the woman was crossing the street about 5:40 p.m. when a motorist driving toward Carnegie tried to avoid her, but hit her and then crashed into an apartment building. The woman, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Salerno said. “He tried to avoid her, but he hit her and then crashed into the building,” Salerno said. The building in the 400 block of Carothers Avenue sustained structural damage around the doorway and a tow truck had to remove the car. No street parking? Then please tell me where everyone is suppose to park? People just need to slow down. Or cops could place the speed radars on the street. They are usually parked at the fire station and down at that bar by the yellow bridge. But they can't always be there. People need to take personal responsibility and slow down.   more ›

Pedestrian Hit By Car on Greentree Road

A pedestrian walking across Grentree Road in Scott broke his leg after a car hit him Tuesday.

A pedestrian walking across Grentree Road in Scott Township broke his leg when a car hit him Tuesday morning. Scott Township police Chief Jim Secreet said the motorist was pulling out of Ryan Drive near Carriage Park Apartments and looking the other way when he hit the man around 11:30 a.m. The person was thrown onto the hood of the car and broke his leg, Secreet said. Police are investigating the incident and could file charges against the driver. Police did not identify the driver or the pedestrian because the investigation is ongoing. Two Crashes Clog Vanadium Road

A pair of serious car accidents Saturday morning on Vanadium Road are raising more questions about the safety of the road.

A pair of serious car accidents Saturday morning on Vanadium Road has one prominent emergency responder wondering if recent changes to the roadway fixed the problem. Crews responded to a three-car crash near the railroad tunnel around 8:30 a.m. that caused some of the motorists to be hospitalized. About an hour latter, a driver heading up Vanadium apparently lost control of his car when he hit the railroad tracks and crashed into a minivan going in the opposite direction. The driver of the car was taken to St. Clair Hospital. The woman driving the van had to be cut out of the vehicle and was taken to a Pittsburgh area hospital, Kirwan Heights fire Chief Mark Lewis said. Her son in the van, who is disabled, was taken to Children’s Hospital …
