Three women accused of running a prostitution ring out of a Bridgeville massage parlor are going to trial on misdemeanor prostitution charges. Felony charges of prostitution and conspiracy were withdrawn by Allegheny County police during the preliminary hearing with District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet on Monday. However, the three women, Ok Ja Ko, 52, Chong Hee Kil, 57, and Heemae Jong, 58, waived their misdemeanor prostitution charges and are now awaiting trial. The women arrived at district court on Monday afternoon wearing surgical masks, rushing past cameras and television reporters to get into the courtroom. Bridgeville’s annual Easter Egg Hunt has been cancelled, although borough officials say families can instead attend a similar event this weekend at Journey Church on Prestley Road. Borough officials said the Bridgeville Community Association, which is not directly affiliated with the local government or volunteer fire department, did not make the proper plans in time. The event typically has been at the Bridgeville fire hall. Any area residents who were looking forward to the event can attend the Community Easter Egg Hunt from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Journey Church. The event organizers said they plan to have 2,000 Easter eggs to hunt and will also have food, inflatable “bounce houses” and obstacle courses for the kids. The church is also …

A tractor worth more than $18,000 was stolen from a storage area in Collier Township. Workers at Independent Enterprises reported to Collier police on March 21 that the Kubota tractor with an attached “brush hog” was stolen from their staging area on Gregg Station Road. The tractor hadn’t been used since October, so investigators aren’t sure when it was stolen. A fence where the tractor and other equipment were being stored was damaged. An Aldi’s low price grocery store is expected to open in South Fayette near the Bridgeville exit off Interstate 79. The eight acres of land directly behind the former Exxon gas station is expected to be built into a shopping center called The Crossings at South Fayette with Aldi’s becoming the anchor tenant, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. A bank, restaurant, drive-thru coffee and other businesses also might move into the proposed shopping center, the newspaper reported. The Bridgeville Fuel Stop gas station next to McDonald’s would be demolished to build an entrance to the shopping center that connects to the Route 50 and Washington Pike intersection. A Heidelberg woman accused of alerting police to a false emergency is heading to trial on most of the charges. Heidelberg police said Heather Dickson, 27, called officers to her borough home last month for a report of an argument with another person. But police said there was never an emergency and she lied to them about the incident. Police charged her on March 4 after investigating. Dickson waived to court charges of false information to police, false reports and false alarms to emergency responders. Bridgeville police said a man, whose girlfriend was allegedly stealing items inside a Chartiers Street business, left her behind when officers arrived. Police said they were alerted to a woman being stopped for retail theft by store employees inside the Rite Aid on March 1. Officers said they arrested Jonna Swisher, 33, of Canonsburg, and charged her with retail theft and criminal conspiracy. But her boyfriend, Joshua Patragas, 32, of Washington, who police said was supposed to be the getaway driver, left the parking lot when officers arrived. Police said he left Swisher alone to be arrested. However, investigators eventually found Patragas and charged him with retail theft and criminal conspiracy. The Chartiers Valley School District sent a letter to parents on Friday about two possible threats to students in neighboring Bridgeville. The Chartiers Valley School District said Bridgeville police are investigating a case where a threatening letter was left in front of a Bridgeville home on March 11. The letter indicated the author was watching the daughter of the resident and threatened to abduct the daughter. On March 12 around 2:50 p.m., two Chartiers Valley students were apparently followed by a multi-brown colored panel van after they got off their bus in Bridgeville, according to the school district.
