Watch the CV Boys’ Basketball Highlights Video

Chartiers Valley is 9-1 in the WPIAL’s Triple-A District 5 and can clinch the division championship with wins against South Park and South Fayette.

The video, created by students Jason Restich and Connor Lindsay, shows practice and game highlights in the match-up between CV and South Fayette on Jan. 15. The Colts beat South Fayette 50-46 that night. The Colts are 18-2 heading into their final three games of the season against South Park, South Fayette and Upper St. Clair. Butler Upsets CV on Last-Second Shot

The Colts lost on a last-second 3-pointer in a huge upset by Butler in the WPIAL playoffs.

WEXFORD – Chartiers Valley lost on a heart-breaking last-second jump shot in a huge upset by Butler in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs. Butler’s Luke Hartung nailed a 3-pointer with just 1.8 seconds left to lift the Golden Tornado over the No. 2 Colts in a stunning 56-54 finish at North Allegheny High School. Chartiers Valley’s Wayne Capers dueled Butler’s Nathaniel Snodgrass for the entire game with both players combining to score more than half of the game’s total points. Snodgrass led all players with 33 points while Capers finished the game with 27. Capers lifted his team after a sluggish start in the first quarter and pushed them to a 44-36 lead heading into the final quarter. But Snodgrass turned it on and scored a dozen points…

'Blue-Out' Planned for Basketball Game

Boys' basketball game will bring awareness to childhood grief following a family member's death.

Thursday night’s Chartiers Valley boys’ basketball game will be awash in a sea of blue as fans show solidarity for National Children’s Grief Awareness Day. The “Blue-Out” game against rival Upper St. Clair is designed to raise money for grief awareness with a raffle and monetary donations to the cause. Many fans plan to wear light blue to the 7:30 p.m. basketball game at Chartiers Valley High School. High school senior Nicole Lapia organized the “Blue-Out” and donation drive leading up to the game. Proceeds will benefit the Highmark Caring Foundation and its work helping grieving children who have lost family members. “Many families have received help from the Caring Place and this basketball game is my way of saying thank you to all the …
