Scott Township Octoberfest Schedule

Scott Township’s Octoberfest celebration is scheduled for Oct. 13 at Scott Park.

Scott Township’s 12th annual Octoberfest celebration is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 13 at Scott Park. There is a full schedule events that includes music, dancing, hayrides, games, food and, of course beer! Heidelberg Oktoberfest Events Schedule

The Heidelberg Oktoberfest celebration is scheduled for Sept. 29 at Heidelberg Park!

Heidelberg’s second annual Oktoberfest celebration is scheduled for Sept. 29 at Heidelberg Park. There are a full schedule events that includes music, dancing, games, food and, of course beer! The events will go from 1 to 8 p.m. with numerous bands and activities during the day, and finish with fireworks to end the festivities. Last year's Oktoberfest was moved into the Heidelberg fire hall because of rain, but organizers are hoping for better weather this year! Local Man Revives Popular Duquesne Pilsener Beer

An adverse circumstance helped lead a couple to revive the popular beer brand, which has its office in the South Hills.

Walk into the cozy corporate office of Duquesne Bottling Co., and you’re likely to meet a friendly, vivacious blonde with a framed photo of her Pomeranian on her desk. She’s Maria Dudash, the numbers person of the Duquesne operation, as her husband, Mark, gives credit where it’s due. He’s the idea guy: It was his concept to resurrect the once-popular Pittsburgh beer. “When I brought it up, of course, my kids laughed at me,” he says as he sits behind his desk in the Summerfield Commons office park in Upper St. Clair. The younger Dudashes weren’t alone. “When I started bringing it up to people I respect, they said, 'Stick to law,'” Mark admits. 99 Bottles Taps Into 6-Pack Beer Market

The new six-pack beer shop near Carnegie offers nearly 500 beer selections at reasonable prices.

Finding a good six-pack of beer in Pittsburgh is not an easy chore. So a new business in Scott Township is trying to tap into the market with a vast selection of tasty and hard-to-find beers. The new 99 Bottles shop, located at the former CJ’s Bistro on Route 50 near Carnegie, offers patrons a place to pick up a few brews without having to buy a full case or navigate through a smoky bar. More than 480 selections in hulking refrigerated cases greet shoppers when they walk through the door. “We just wanted to bring variety,” owner Dustin Jones said. “It’s a fairly new concept to the area and we just want to give people give a good selection and good variety that they don’t usually try. Oktoberfest Coming to Heidelberg

Daylong festivities scheduled for Oct. 1

Heidelberg is looking for craft vendors and volunteers to participate in its upcoming Oktoberfest. The borough’s first Oktoberfest celebration will be held on Oct. 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Heidelberg Park. Many activities are scheduled throughout the day and will include food, live music, kids’ activities, hay rides, crafts and, of course, beer. Registration is $25 per craft table and applications must be in by Sept. 28. Those interested in participating should contact borough Manager Joe Kauer at 412-276-0363, or view the application form on the borough website’s Oktoberfest 2011 page. The borough’s Recreation Committee is also looking for volunteers to help organize the event and oversee various activities during the day. Anyone interested …
