New Red Cross Emergency Director Appointed

Victor Roosen, the new appointee, will focus on preparedness and capacity building during National Preparedness Month.

American Red Cross Western Pennsylvania Region has appointed Victor Roosen as its new regional emergency services director.

In his new role, Roosen, who most recently served as the response manager for the Red Cross chapter, will place significant emphasis on preparedness and readying the 25-county region for the possibility of having to launch a large-scale disaster response operation.

As the regional emergency services director for the western Pennsylvania region, Roosen will oversee the entire disaster services function.

“We at the Red Cross are committed to responding to local disasters within our region, providing community members assistance with their immediate disaster-caused needs after a house fire or other similar event,” Roosen said. “However, we are also committed to preparing for the possibility of a large-scale emergency in our region.

"Isaac certainly exemplifies the importance of that commitment. In my new role, I plan to work with our entire disaster services team across the region to build our capacity and strengthen our resources to respond to potential large-scale disasters in our area.”

Roosen will work closely , as well as with the region’s preparedness and resiliency team, to ensure that the local Red Cross meets its mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies. His primary duties will be to ensure service delivery to those affected by disasters, to build the regional capacity to respond to disasters, and to direct the training and management of the emergency services department staff and volunteers.

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Roosen managed the daily business operations of multi-location companies covering large geographic areas for 13 years. Roosen served as the operations manager and realtor at Savvy Real Estate Inc. in Los Angeles. 

Previously, he worked at Adecco Technical, ACT 1 Personnel Service and West Valley Staffing Group. He is also currently a real estate investor and managing member at RMA Investor Group. He is also a volunteer therapy dog handler.

Roosen has a degree in family science psychology from Brigham Young University. A native of San Francisco, Roosen now resides in Lawrenceville.
