Towns Planning Earth Day Clean-Ups

Bridgeville, Collier, Heidelberg and Scott all have Earth Day events this month in which residents are encouraged to redd up their neighborhoods.

will have its annual event in conjunction with the Scott Conservancy on April 21 beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers can meet at Scott Township Municipal Building or at Kane Woods to clean up local roads and the trails.

Anyone who wants to participate is asked to contact Jane Sorcan at jasorcan@verizon.net.

also will have its Earth Day clean-up on April 21 from 9 a.m. until noon. Anyone who wants to participate in the Keep Collier Beautiful Day should meet at the municipal building on Hilltop Road to register and receive their work gear, donuts and drinks before being taken to the specific areas.

After the clean-up, there will be lunch, a raffle and prizes att the municipal building. For more information about the clean-up, contact Mary Lou Kientz at kientzmlk@comcast.net.

Meanwhile, there will also be the 5th annual Redd Up Heidelberg event beginning at 8:30 a.m. on April 21. Residents can meet at Ellsworth Playground to pick up litter, paint over graffiti, plant trees and do other clean-up work.

Anyone interested in attending the event should contact the at 412-276-0363. Volunteers will be given bags, gloves, supplies, reflective vests and refreshments.

Finally, is scheduled for April 28 at 9 a.m. Volunteers will meet at Triangle Park at 9 a.m. to focus on areas along Washington Avenue, Baldwin Street, Bower Hill Road and other areas. Anyone participating is asked to bring a broom, gloves and whatever other tools needed to clean up the area.
