“I think we always envisioned the library could be used this way,” Taylor said. “When you think of the library as a community center, these are the types of events you can have. Just because we don’t have a concert hall like the Carnegie Carnegie doesn’t mean we can’t have a concert series.”

The fundraiser is especially important because of . Taylor hopes this event not only raises money for the library, but also mobilizes people to get involved through volunteering and fundraising.

She said library volunteers Joyce Heinrich and Becky Wisbon were instrumental in planning the Summer Sounds concert.

“It creates excitement and optimism about where we’re going,” Taylor said. “I think we’ll probably have people who have never been here before.”

The concert will include music from a local group that includes Bridgeville resident Kim Losego, along with Lou Schreiber and Keith Moorehouse. Taylor said Losego and his group are excited about playing in the building because of its open floor plan that can be rearranged.

“It’s really hard to find good acoustics for a group like this,” Taylor said.

She also said Losego thinks the large grassy area behind the building would make an excellent location for regular outdoor summer concerts in the future.

“(Losego) really sees that back grassy area as a perfect venue for summer concerts,” Taylor said.

Tickets for the concert and social event can be purchased at the library before the event or at the door. For more information, go to www.bridgevillelibrary.org or call 412-221-3737.
