Bridgeville Library President Resigns

Bridgeville's library board President Nino Petrocelli Sr. will resign from his seat at the end of September.

The long-time board member told Chartiers Valley Patch during a phone interview Thursday that he’s proud of . He announced his retirement from the board at its monthly meeting Tuesday night.

Petrocelli was instrumental in construction of the new library, although ever since it opened in January 2011.

“I see so many good programs,” Petrocelli said. “So many kids and adults enjoy our programs. My final wish is we should do everything in our power to keep this beautiful library in our community. It’s not only a library, but it’s so many other things.”

He said he’s ready to step aside and let new people offer their ideas and suggestions on how to move the forward. However, he promised to offer support or advice if asked.

“I thought it’s time for new people to come in and give my resignation,” Petrocelli said. “Let these new people come in with new ideas.”

Joyce Heinrich, who is the library’s new fundraising manager, said the board and secondary advisory panel is starting to receive interest from people in Bridgeville and neighboring communities. She said the advisory board on Tuesdsay welcomed three new members from Bridgeville, Collier and South Fayette, each of whom could eventually replace Petrocelli.

“It’s encouraging,” Heinrich said of the diverse participation. “The board and (advisory panel), as a whole, are now more representative of our actual patronage than it had been historically.”

She also invited anyone else who would like volunteer for the board or other positions within the library to come to the McMillen Street facility. She said they’re trying to match people with certain skill sets to appropriate tasks.

“I do think we’re making progress,” Heinrich said. “The objective is still to get the message out for people to visit the library.”
