Air Quality Alert In Effect

It's going to be a hot one.

The Department of Environmental Protection has issued a code orange air quality alert for the Chartiers Valley area.

A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups, including elderly, children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases. Avoid strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.

Today's high temperature will be around 87 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Friday will be another scorcher with a high near 86.
