West Mifflin Titans Conquer Colts

Chartiers Valley loses 47-8 in its final home game of the season.

Chartiers Valley hoped for a win Friday night to clinch a playoff berth against the West Mifflin Titans. A win could have clinched second place in the Big 8 Conference and possibly helped secure home field advantage in the WPIAL football playoffs.

Instead, the Colts, which had previously won seven of the last nine games against West Mifflin, were no match for the Titans in a 47-8 thumping Friday night at .

West Mifflin’s ground attack dominated the game throughout the football game. Titans senior running back Shamar Greene recorded 20 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Senior fullback Kevin Clarke exploded for 100 yards on just five carries and had a touchdown off of a 70-yard run.

Chartiers Valley junior running back Michael Boulos was one bright spot for the Colts offense. He rushed for 119 yards on 16 carries, but couldn’t find the end zone. Senior Juliano Coury scored for the sixth time this season and had the only touchdown for Chartiers Valley. Boulos added a two-point conversion.

Colts senior quarterback Wayne Capers suffered a lower body injury two weeks ago in the loss against the Thomas Jefferson Jaguars and was a game-time decision. He was limited to less than a handful of snaps at quarterback and played defense the first half of the game.

Chartiers Valley (5-3, 4-2) closes out their season next week in their Big 8 Conference finale at South Park, which has only two wins this season. With a win the Colts would finish the season with six wins, five of which would be in conference play.
