Photo Slideshow: Boys' Team 2010-11 Season

A season wrap of the Chartiers Valley boys' basketball team

It isn’t easy to follow a WPIAL championship season, and while the Chartiers Valley boys’ basketball team didn’t always make it look easy, the Colts took the community on a championship journey that nearly rivaled last season’s remarkable run. With the graduation of star guard T.J. McConnell, and moving up to Class AAAA this season, many believed the Colts would struggle this season, and at times, they did. But the end result, a spot in the Class AAAA WPIAL championship game, proved that Coach Tim McConnell got this group to play together for a common goal. At the end of January, Chartiers Valley (20-7) was coming off of back-to-back section losses, but after defeating Norwin in the first round of the WPIAL tournament, and then upsetting third-seeded North Allegheny, Chartiers Valley qualified for the PIAA tournament for the ninth straight season. Ultimately the Colts season ended with consecutive losses to Gateway and Allderdice in the WPIAL championship and PIAA first round respectively, but that does not diminish what this team accomplished.
