Do You Know What Pickleball Is?

The answer is likely "no," unless you live in Collier Township.

Most parks have tennis courts, but this is where Collier Township is a little different.

Collier Park has Pickleball courts, and the Senior Pickleball League starts in September.

So what is Pickleball? It's sort of like tennis, with elements of table tennis and badminton thrown in. Click here to read more about this unique sport.

The Senior Pickleball League is for players age 60 and older, and no experience is necessary to join.

The league meets Mondays, from 2 to 3 p.m., Sept. 16 through Oct. 21 at the Collier Park Pickleball courts.

The instructional league will teach players the game and strategy while providing exercise. Both singles and doubles players are welcome. Pre-registration is required either by going online to the Collier Township Recreation website, by U.S. mail, or by visiting or calling the Collier Township Parks and Recreation Office.

The fee is $42 for Collier Township residents and $50 for non-residents.
