Colts Still Hoping for Spot in State Baseball Playoffs
Baseball team lost to Elizabeth Forward in the WPIAL semifinals
A 16-6 semifinal loss to the undefeated Elizabeth Forward Warriors ended the WPIAL playoff run for the Chartiers Valley boys’ baseball team.
The Colts will face the Hopewell Vikings on Tuesday in a consolation game with a trip to the state tournament on the line. The game will be 7:30 p.m. at Washington and Jefferson College’s baseball field.
The Colts had won seven consecutive contests before the loss to the Warriors and have accomplished a lot since a 2-2 start.

"We reached our first goal of a section championship, but we did not reach our second goal of a WPIAL Championship," head coach Jim Jaskowski said.
While, the Colts know they lost to a very good Elizabeth Forward squad, they also believe they did not play their best baseball in the semifinal matchup.

"They took advantage of our mistakes, which is what makes them good, we did not throw very well as a staff and they took advantage," Jaskowski said.
The Colts achieved an 11-3 section record and defeated the Montour Spartans twice, which put the stamp on a big year for the program.
The Colts will lose a big part of their roster next year but will not use this as an excuse for the expectations of the program. The Colts have also reached the point as a program where making the postseason is the norm and is expected from the players and coaches.
