Therapy Dogs Become Reading Partners for CV Students

Chartiers Valley Primary School has partnered with Therapy Dogs International to bring therapy dogs into the school about twice a month.

During a May assembly, students learned about the use of therapy dogs, and how to interact with them. The dogs have returned throughout the month to visit students.

Students get to spend time with the dogs as a reward for achieving goals, but also practice reading skills by reading to the dogs.

According to the school district's website, the district plans to continue the therapy dog program next year, and expand the role of the program at the schools.

For more information about the Therapy Dog Program, see the Chartiers Valley School District website.
