Nearby Municipality Files Appeal to Join Chartiers Valley

Some parents want to leave Carlynton School District.

Some Rosslyn Farms parents are filing an appeal to join Chartiers Valley School District after their petition was denied last month by the Pennsylvania Department of Education last month, according to the Tribune Review.

The petitioners wish to leave the Carlynton School District, something that district opposes.

Chartiers Valley remains neutral on the move, according to the newspaper.

The department denied the Rosslyn Farms petition because it wanted to keep both districts contiguous, which means all the municipalities in the district connect. Rosslyn Farms seceding would leave the districts non-contiguous.

Also, according to the report, the denial cited a lack of significant difference in the academics at the two districts.
