The Chartiers Valley Lady Colts held off a furious comeback from Shaler to advance in the WPIAL basketball playoffs with a razor-thin 31-29 victory.

The Chartiers Valley Lady Colts held off a furious comeback from Shaler to advance in the WPIAL basketball playoffs with a razor-thin 31-29 victory.

The CV girls’ basketball team held a 15-12 lead at halftime during their first-round AAAA playoff game against the Titans at North Hills High School.

They dominated Shaler in the third quarter, appearing to blow open the game with a 24-12 lead going into the final quarter.

But the Titans mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter and trailed by 26-24 with a minute remaining in the game.

But Chartiers Valley was able to hold on for a 31-29 win. The Lady Colts will play Upper St. Clair in the second round of the AAAA WPIAL playoffs.
