CV Asking For Input About New Freshmen Academy

School district wants to implement the new learning initiative next year.

The is asking parents and area residents to attend a meeting next week that will help with the development of the high school’s new .

The academies are designed to offer “smaller learning communities” and will begin next school year. However, this year’s freshmen class will be the first students to go through the new program when it launches in 2012-13.

The first meeting to discuss the new academies will be Sept. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the . The activity-based event and sharing process will take about 45 minutes.

“What defines the academies and how we proceed is up to our constituents,” the school district said in a press release. “We are encouraging any interested student, parent, teacher or community member to participate in our kickoff event.”
