In the cards - Queen of Hearts

Cartomancy with the Queen of Hearts

In popular culture, the Queen of Hearts is deeply rooted to two things: Alice in Wonderland (Off with their heads!) and romance (remember that old pop song "Queen of Hearts" by Juice Newton? I feel old thinking about it).

When reading playing cards, hearts are read like you would read a cups card in Tarot, although hearts have a stronger "romance" vibe. The hearts cards don't have the quite the same amount of  water element and intuition associations as the cups cards do.

But it isn't entirely absent, either. So lets think of the Queen of Hearts card in terms of "follow your heart, especially where love is concerned".

This is about the feminine, or yin, aspect of romance. It's like the difference between a magnet and a spear. The yin / feminine aspects of romance is to attract...not physical attraction - "like attracts like" spiritual law of attraction. The yang / masculine aspects is outgoing, seeking, finding. Often we associate power with the masculine, go-get-it approach. But yin is strong and powerful too. You can't lift a car with a spear...but you can with a big enough magnet.

Queens are powerful. They can take control, wield power as well as a king (Cersei Lannister, anyone?) If you are feeling alone, lonely, separated from your 'soulmate' by space in time...maybe it is time to take control...of yourself...and try the opposite strategy.

If you have been on a seek-and-destroy mission, seeking, struggling - try attraction. Stop thrashing against the current. Be your best most loving self, to attract your best most loving match.

Or if you have been sitting around 'attracting' like crazy but feel frustrated, try a more outward approach...connect with others through things you really love and enjoy...things that feed your soul and make you happy...which leads you right back to the attracting thing.

Naturally, the most powerful approach of all is to combine both...connect with others without ulterior motives, while being your most authentic and  most happy self without expectations.

Connection and attraction both from a place of calm and self-confidence can be a very powerful thing...such is the kingdom of the Queen of Hearts...
