Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does bad stuff have to happen at all? We are forced to face these questions time and time again. Some things are so bad, so disturbed, so deeply wrong we can not see any good in it no matter how hard we try.
Yet both extremes of good and evil (and everything in between) have a role to play. The interplay of light and dark, good and evil are inseparable parts our existence. So much so that it is woven into our biology. If there is no light, we can't see. If there is no shadow, the light-sensitive material in our eye becomes drained and we still can't see.
