PennDOT is getting ready to widen Washington Pike near Bursca Business Park and wants motorists to view proposals for the reconstruction project on the roadway.

is getting ready to widen Washington Pike near the Bursca Business Park in South Fayette and wants motorists to view proposals for the reconstruction project on the roadway.

The department is asking “interested parties” to come to the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department to view replacement proposals for the bridge over Coal Run on July 23.

Anyone who might be impacted by the construction project is asked to come to the volunteer fire department at 3326 Fairview Drive from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

The project will remove and replace the existing bridge with a new structure, widen the roadway to accommodate a left turn lane, improve the intersection at Bursca Drive and install a traffic signal.

Cars will be able to continue to drive through the roadway, which is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2013. However, large trucks will be detoured around the area.

The plans display and presentation will identify the project location, illustrate the proposed bridge replacement preliminary design, property and traffic impacts, and define a proposed truck detour route

PennDOT representatives and the project’s design consultant team will be available for questions and answers. Comments on the proposed project will be accepted during the meeting.
