State House Recognizes Scott's 150th Anniversary

Township officials were invited to Harrisburg this week.

Two leaders from were invited to Harrisburg this week to begin celebrating the municipality’s 150th anniversary.

Township Manager Denise Fitzgerald and board of commissioners President Pat Caruso went to the state Capitol on Monday and were taken to the floor of the House to be recognized.

State Reps. and sponsored a resolution honoring the township, which was unanimously passed by the chamber. The representatives presented Fitzgerald and Caruso with a copy of the resolution, which will be presented to the board at its next public meeting.

"We greatly appreciate the honor bestowed upon us. The experience was very interesting and educational," Caruso said.

Smith said the history of Scott Township from the Whiskey Rebellion to Old St. Luke’s Church is overwhelming.

“Scott Township has a distinguished history in our region," Smith said. "Scott Township remains a place where heritage is respected and community is fostered through the many organizations, businesses and families that call Scott home."

Kotik wished Scott Township and its residents success when they celebrate the 150th anniversary at Scott Park on July 4.

"The citizens of Scott Township have a proud history that has been a magnet for encouraging new residents who are interested in a quality of life that has been sustained throughout its neighborhoods for over 150 years," Kotik said.
