Taking the Bridge Out of Bridgeville

Construction to widen McLaughlin Run Road bridge will begin mid-March.

The McLaughlin Run Road Bridge will temporarily close for a replacement project.

Bridgeville Borough Manager Lori Collins said the bridge was deemed unsafe and is expected to close mid-March.

"The project has already been placed out for bid," Collins said at Tuesday's South West Communities Chamber of Commerce meeting. "Crews will have to shut off gas services to some nearby residences during the day so that's why they're starting in March."Β

Construction crews will widen the one-lane bridge and will move a large sanitary pipe.Β

Traffic will be detoured through Upper St. Clair; drivers will have to take Bower Hill Road, to Painters Run Road, to McMillan Road, then back to McLaughlin Run Road. Collins warned that large trucks will also have to use this detour.
